The LSUS logo must appear on the front of all publications and websites representing any entity within Louisiana State University Shreveport's organizational structure.

The LSUS logo may not be incorporated into other logos or aligned with artwork to create a new logo. Borders, boxes, or shapes may not be placed around or behind the LSUS logo, including a white box.

There must be a protected area surrounding the logo. The height of the secondary logo should be the minimum space on all sides.

The LSUS logo may only appear in the official LSU colors: purple, gold, black, and white. The logo must appear using 100 percent full saturation of the official colors. Tinting is not allowed.

Drop shadows, gradients, and other effects should never be applied to the LSUS logo.

The LSUS logo should not appear smaller than 1 inch in width when possible. The primary LSUS logo with the full name should never appear smaller than 1.15 inches wide whenever possible.

Protected Space Example

The dotted line in the image below illustrates the protected area around the primary logo. The width of each side of the protected area (indicated by "y") is equal to the height of the letter "S" in the LSUS logo.

LSUS purple logo immediately surrounded by a dotted rectangle, which is inside of a larger protected area. The width of each side of the protected area is indicated by the variable "y".

This protected space ensures that no other graphics interfere with the clarity and integrity of the LSUS letters. At no time is placing anything in front of, adding a stroke or outline to, or adding gradients, patterns, or effects permissible for any logo in this guide.

Unit Logos

A “unit” refers to any college, department, program, or center at LSUS.

Colleges and departments should align their areas to the university visually. Using internal logos correctly allows for brand consistency.

Independent or externally-made logos for university‐supported units, departments, and colleges are not approved for use, including in publication or merchandise. The internal unit, college, or department name, should be aligned with the LSUS name whenever possible.

Media and Public Relations can offer guidance for use of internal logos and must approve uses of internal logos for publications, advertisements, and merchandise.

Unit Logo Guidelines

The following are guidelines for existing and future internal logos.

  • Media and Public Relations reserves the right to make decisions about current and future unit logos.
  • If the unit is a location primarily used by one college, department, or program, that location should use that unit’s logo.
  • If an internal unit is not a standalone organization and is operated or controlled by another college, department or organization, that unit should use its connected internal organization’s logo.

Athletics Logos

The primary LSUS athletics logo is the preferred logo and should be used when possible.

The secondary logo and icons should only be used when the format is limited, and/or the LSU Shreveport brand is already present in some way. It is also acceptable on merchandise or team uniforms.

Icons should not be used without the background. They should also only be used in purple and white, purple and white with a gold S, purple and gold, or black and white when color is limited.

The anchor icon can be used outside of athletics, but only as a supporting graphic element and not as a replacement for primary LSUS marks.

Athletics logos and their formatting should not be used for any entity outside of athletics.

Athletic team logos are also acceptable in the primary athletic format, with the anchor to the left.

Student Organization Logos

Student organizations may choose to create their own logo. However, each logo must incorporate an approved alias of the LSU Shreveport name, but are not required to utilize the LSUS logo. If an organization chooses to use the university logo, they should follow brand standards. The Faculty Advisor may contact Media and Public Relations to request a custom logo.

The seal should be used only for official or ceremonial documents, or on prestigious gift items. Any other usage must be approved by the Office of Media and Public Relations. When reproduced in color, the seal should always appear in LSUS Purple and LSUS Gold if printed in more than one color. Black is acceptable if color printing is unavailable. Any manipulation or alteration to the seal is strictly prohibited.

Event Logos

University events and conferences do not always have to follow internal logo guidelines and layouts. It is preferred for university events, particularly evergreen and reoccurring events, to make use of the LSUS brand colors and fonts in order to align that event with LSUS. If an event logo chooses to incorporate an existing LSUS logo, they must follow LSUS brand guidelines in regard to usage of that logo.

If you require assistance in creating a brand-compliant event logo, please reach out to Media and Public Relations.
