Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding topics such as crime reporting, crime prevention and awareness programming, fire safety, a university police overview, emergency response, disciplinary procedures, and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. The report contains crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years regarding offenses that met Clery Act crime reporting criteria and occurred within the university's Clery-reportable geography, including on-campus locations, certain non-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the university, and public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from campus. These statistics are collected, compiled, and published in the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report and are also directly reported annually to the U.S. Department of Education as required by federal law. Clery Act crime statistics are compiled using information obtained from multiple reporting sources, including:

• LSU Shreveport Police Department
• Designated non-police university officials, such as:
  • Student Affairs: Dean of Students, Student Conduct Office, Title IX Office, CARE Coordinator
• Campus Security Authority reports provided to the Clery Compliance Office
• External law enforcement agencies, including:
  • Shreveport Police Department, Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, Bossier City Police Department, Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, and Louisiana State Police
• Other agencies with jurisdiction over non-campus locations, particularly those in areas frequented for student travel and activities

For reporting purposes, all crime statistics are recorded based on the calendar year in which the incident was reported. These statistics are gathered, compiled, and published in the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (ASFSR) and formally submitted to the U.S. Department of Education by the LSU Shreveport Clery Office, which is housed within the University Police Department. Not all reports of crime are included in Clery statistics. Only designated crimes occurring in specific areas are considered Clery reportable statistics.
