Clery Act reporting is based on where the incident occurred. To help distinguish which properties are reportable for LSUS campus, the Clery map color codes properties based on the reportable location definitions classified by the U.S. Department of Education. For more information on Clery reportable locations, see the Clery Crime and Locations menu option.

The LSUS Clery Map identifies Clery-defined geography for the main campus. The U.S. Department of Education mandates that certain properties be designated as Clery geography for crime reporting and notification purposes. The highlighted areas on the map distinguish the specific Clery geography applicable to LSUS.
Clery Geography Designations
- On-Campus Buildings and Roads (Dark Purple): These areas represent buildings, roads, and property that are owned or controlled by LSUS.
- Student Residential Facilities (Black): This is a subset of on-campus property and represents student housing facilities.
- Public Property (Dark Grey): These areas include public or city-owned property that is immediately adjacent to, or runs through (touches), LSUS-owned or controlled property. Only the areas highlighted or labeled in dark grey are categorized as Clery-defined public property.
- Non-campus Property: LSUS does not currently have noncampus property. Non-campus property includes areas owned or controlled by the university, frequented by students, and located outside the main campus boundaries. This category also includes property owned by a registered or recognized student organization that is located outside the campus boundary.
Additional Map Features
- The Dark Yellow area represents the main campus.
- The Light Yellow area indicates the waterway bordering campus and reflects LSUS’s full jurisdiction.
- The Red Line outlines the boundary of Clery geography. This includes the sections of public property roads bordering the campus. Crimes occurring outside this boundary do not qualify as Clery crimes for LSUS. However, we strongly encourage reporting any crimes that occur adjacent to campus. This adjacent area is shown in Green.
