Accreditation

Louisiana State University in Shreveport is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award degrees at the Baccalaureate, Master's,  Educational Specialist and Doctoral levels. Planning and Assessment

Institutional effectiveness presumes that an institution is engaging in ongoing, integrated, and institution-wide research-based planning and evaluation processes that incorporate a systematic review of programs and services that (a) result in continuing improvement and (b) demonstrate that the institution is effectively accomplishing its mission. CPA Licensure and Certification Disclosure Statement

CPA licensure and/or certification requirements vary from state to state. The differences in the states’ requirements may affect students’ ability to apply for the CPA licenses and/or certifications in different states upon completion of the program. As per the U.S. Department of Education regulation 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v), institutions are required to disclose whether their program fulfills the educational requirements for licensure or certification for each state. The Department of Accounting and Business Law has made the following determination regarding the accounting curriculum.

Notice to students pursuing Bachelors of Science in Accounting with Public Accounting concentration that may lead to the CPA license or certification required for employment.

Educator Licensure Requirements

Early Childhood Education PK-3. This program meets the educational eligibility criteria for certification in Early Childhood PK-3 in the State of Louisiana. Graduates of this Louisiana state-approved teacher preparation program will qualify for a Level 1 Professional Certificate. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations. We are unable to confirm the licensure and/or certification requirements of other states or countries. Therefore, if you intend to pursue such credentialing in another state or elsewhere, it is advised that you contact the applicable state or country credentialing authority to familiarize yourself with its specific requirements and determine if this program meets the applicable eligibility criteria.

Elementary Education Grades 1-5. This program meets the educational eligibility criteria for certification in Elementary Grades 1-5 in the State of Louisiana. Graduates of this Louisiana state-approved teacher preparation program will qualify for a Level 1 Professional Certificate. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations. We are unable to confirm the licensure and/or certification requirements of other states or countries. Secondary Education 6-12 (English, Math, Biology, Social Studies, Chemistry, Physics). This program meets the educational eligibility criteria for certification in Grades 6-12 in the respective content areas (English, math biology, social studies, chemistry, physics) in the State of Louisiana. Graduates of this Louisiana state-approved teacher preparation program will qualify for a Level 1 Professional Certificate. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations. We are unable to confirm the licensure and/or certification requirements of other states or countries. Therefore, if you intend to pursue such credentialing in another state or elsewhere, it is advised that you contact the applicable state or country credentialing authority to familiarize yourself with its specific requirements and determine if this program meets the applicable eligibility criteria.

TeachLSUS Alternate Certification Elementary 1-5. This program meets the educational eligibility criteria for certification in Elementary Grades 1-5 in the State of Louisiana. Graduates of this Louisiana state-approved teacher preparation program will qualify for a Level 1 Professional Certificate. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations. TeachLSUS Alternate Certification 6-12. This program meets the educational eligibility criteria for grades 6-12 certification in English, Math, Biology, Social Studies, Chemistry, or Physics in the State of Louisiana. Graduates of this Louisiana state-approved teacher preparation program will qualify for a Level 1 Professional Certificate. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations. We are unable to confirm the licensure and/or certification requirements of other states or countries. Therefore, if you intend to pursue such credentialing in another state or elsewhere, it is advised that you contact the applicable state or country credentialing authority to familiarize yourself with its specific requirements and determine if this program meets the applicable eligibility criteria.

Master of Education in Educational Leadership. Graduates of this program are eligible for certification in Educational Leadership in the State of Louisiana IF the following additional criteria are met: (1) hold or be eligible for a valid Louisiana Type B or Level 2 teaching certificate or have a comparable level out-of-state teaching certificate; (2) have three years teaching experience in area of certification; and (3) have a passing score on the Praxis School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) or the Louisiana Leadership Assessment Series (LLAS) in accordance with state requirements. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations. We are unable to confirm the licensure and/or certification requirements of other states or countries. If you intend of pursue a leadership credential in a location outside of the state of Louisiana, it is advised that you contact the applicable state or country credentialing authority for specific requirements, and to help you determine if completing this program meets certification eligibility criteria for your intended location.

Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction Reading Specialist Concentration. Graduates of this program are eligible for certification as Reading Specialist in the State of Louisiana IF the following additional criteria are met: (1) hold a valid Louisiana Type A, A*, B, B*, Level 3, Level 3*, Level 2, or Level 2* Louisiana teaching certificate and (2) have three years teaching experience in the licensed or certified field. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations. We are unable to confirm the licensure and/or certification requirements of other states or countries. If you intend of pursue a credential in a location outside of the state of Louisiana, it is advised that you contact the applicable state or country credentialing authority for specific requirements, and to help you determine if completing this program meets certification eligibility criteria for your intended location.

Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction English as a Second Language Concentration. Graduates of this program are eligible for certification in English as a Second Language in the State of Louisiana IF the following additional criteria are met: (1) hold a valid Louisiana Type A, B, C, or Level 1, 2, or 3 teaching certificate; (2) certification applies only to teachers of children with limited English-speaking ability; and (3) English as a Second Language certification will be valid only in the teaching area(s) in which one is certified. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations. We are unable to confirm the licensure and/or certification requirements of other states or countries. Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction Educational Technology Leader. Graduates of this program are eligible for certification as Educational Technology Leader in the State of Louisiana IF the following additional criteria is met: (1) hold a valid Louisiana Type A or Level 3 Louisiana teaching certificate. Graduates of the program who wish to teach in another U.S. state or country may require additional eligibility criteria to qualify for licensure and/or certification in those locations.
