What You Need to Know as a Transfer Student

To transfer from another college or university to LSUS, you’ll need to meet the LSUS transfer admission requirements. Our admissions advisors will help guide you through the process and tell you what you need to transfer colleges.

  1. Submit a completed application here.
  2. Submit official transcripts from ALL previously attended institutions.
    • Transcripts can be mailed directly the Admissions and Records Office or sent electronically to admissions@lsus.edu via eScript-Safe, Parchment, etc.
    • If you are currently enrolled at another institution, you will need to submit a current official transcript now and an official transcript when your final grades are posted.
    • Hand-carried transcripts may be accepted as official if they are in the original, sealed, unopened envelope.
    • Unofficial transcripts may be used for conditional admission.
    • Full admission will not be granted until final transcripts have been received and evaluated.
    • Students must submit final transcripts by the end of the first enrolled semester or future registration will be prevented.
  3. Provide proof of immunizations or sign the immunization waiver.
  4. Submit residency requests if applicable.
  5. Get advised by contacting your academic advisor.
  6. Register for classes on myLSUS.
  7. Complete or update your FAFSA by March 1 for summer, June 1 for fall, and October 1 for spring. You can find all necessary financial aid forms here.
  8. Pay tuition and fees by the fee payment deadline. (These can be paid with your financial aid, credit card, debit card, check or money order. 
  9. Reserve your housing by contacting Pilots Pointe Apartments

Transfer Admissions Requirements
  • Must have earned 2.0 GPA on all college-level coursework attempted. This does not include remedial courses.
  • Must have completed a college-level English and college-level math course with a "C" or better.
  • Must have earned 18 hours of college-level coursework from a regionally accredited college. Remedial work does not count towards the 18 credit hours.
  • An Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Arts, or Associate of General Studies from a regionally accredited college guarantees admission to the university. Any regionally accredited bachelor's degree does as well.

What Credits Will Transfer to LSUS?

We accept credits earned from colleges and universities accredited by regional accrediting associations. Credits from other institutions will be considered on an individual basis. If you have questions, please inquire with the LSUS Records Office at 318-797-5119. You can also check the LSUS Pilot Transfer Tables. 

Transfer Scholarships

LSUS offers transfer scholarships of $1,000 per semester. To qualify, you must have earned a 3.0 college GPA or better and completed at least 12 college credit hours. Learn more about transfer scholarships at LSUS.
