Why LSUS’ biological sciences degree program?

LSUS biology professors are major contributors to research networks funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH). They are researching topics such as natural products with anti-cancer properties and publishing books and journals based on their findings. Not only do LSUS faculty support and mentor their students, they also involve them in their biological research projects.

Experiential learning to prepare for real-world careers

The biology program at LSUS works hand-in-hand with The LSU Health Sciences Centers in Shreveport and New Orleans. From research to practical experience, biology majors  compete for acceptance into medical and medical allied training. The LSUS faculty are dedicated to preparing students for their future careers  "whatever that may be" and high-quality teaching is our first priority.

"Attending a school like LSU Shreveport has given me the opportunity to achieve my dreams of becoming a dentist. Being an international student, I was fortunate to be surrounded by an amazing support system through faculty, friends, my advisors, student organizations, and the international student office. I am grateful for the guidance I received every step of the way, and excited to begin my journey at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore. LSUS has been home away from home!"
