Research Interests

I am interested in the mechanisms that regulate how stem cells divide to generate daughter cells with different fates in a process called asymmetric cell division. This process requires that proteins be segregated to the appropriate daughter cell and the spindle aligned to the correct axis of division in order to be successful. My research projects utilize Drosophila neural stem cells (neuroblasts) as the model system as they share many of the same proteins and pathways that are utilized in the development of higher order organisms.
