SHREVEPORT – The LSUS Drama Club and the Department of Arts and Media presents “The Woolgatherer” this week at The Workshop Theatre in Bronson Hall.
The play will have four showings – Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. each day and the Sunday finale at 2 p.m.
The production features LSUS student CJ Longino as Cliff, a hard-working, hard-drinking truck driver in pursuit of Rose.
Rose, played by LSUS graduate Aubrey Brummett, is a shy dime store salesgirl whose life centers around reveries and daydreams. Rose lives in a tiny Philadelphia apartment when the rough and witty Cliff saunters into her life.
General tickets are $15, and students with an ID can purchase tickets for $5. Seating is extremely limited, and reservations are encouraged by calling 318-797-5283 or by emailing robert.alford@lsus.edu.
LSUS associate professor Robert Alford II directs the play. Alford II, a member and past president of the Shreveport Little Theatre Board of Directors, has a lengthy credit list at both LSUS and Shreveport Little Theatre.
He’s directed Brummett in “Sweat.” Other titles from his established career include “Glengarry Glen Ross”, “The Lonesome West”, “Fences”, “A Raisin in the Sun,” and “A Lesson Before Dying.”
Brummett, who has acted in productions for Canterbury Summer Theatre and Tulane Shakespeare Festival, has credits in plays such as “Sweat,” “Sylvia” and “Dracula” among others.
Longino is the president of the LSUS Drama Club, team captain of the Debate Team secretary of the Student Activities Board.
Other LSUS students and faculty are involved in the production.
