SHREVEPORT – LSUS economics faculty member Dr. Reshad Osmani has been appointed as an associate editor for two internationally respected economics journals.
Osmani is serving on the editorial boards of Applied Economics and Applied Economics Letters, both published by Taylor & Francis.
The assistant professor of economics is contributing to the journals’ editorial and peer-review processes, including evaluating submitted research, overseeing peer review, and providing recommendations regarding publication.
“I am very honored to take on these roles and believe the appointments also provide an opportunity to highlight the growing research and scholarly visibility of LSU Shreveport and the College of Business,” said Osmani, who serves as the William C. Woolf Endowed Rising Star Professor in the LSUS economics and finance department. “The work has been rewarding, especially because it connects me with research and researchers from around the world, including China, countries across Europe, and many other regions.”
Both journals are highly rated in the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) Journal Quality List, which is a widely used international standard.
Applied Economics, a long-standing journal in the field published since 1969, earned an A rating from ABDC.
Applied Economics Letters, published since 1994, earned a B rating.
The journals publish applied economic research across a broad range of policy and empirical areas and have an international readership and contributor base.
Osmani adds these editorial duties to his role as an associate editor for the Journal of Healthcare Organization and Management.
He said being actively involved in analyzing the work of others strengthens his own research, which includes health, labor and public economics with particular interests in child health economics and applied microeconometrics.
“I’m exposed to new questions, data, and innovative econometric approaches that broaden how I think about empirical research,” Osmani said. “Assessing manuscripts and working with reviewers sharpens my judgment about research design, methods, and how to communicate a paper’s contribution.
“I also enjoy building an international network by inviting researchers from different countries to review work in their areas of expertise. It’s a meaningful way to support scholarship and strengthen the exchange of ideas across the field.”
Osmani has published more than 30 research articles and presented his work at conferences like the American Economic Association, the American Society of Health Economists and the International Health Economics Association.
