Biography
Dr. Marjan Trutschl is a Professor of Computer Science, co-Director of the Laboratory for Advanced Biomedical Informatics at Louisiana State University in Shreveport (LSUS). He received his Sc.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML).
Prior to joining LSUS, Dr. Trutschl co-founded Anvil, Inc. and worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Visualization and Perception Research, Center for Industrial Competitiveness, and Center for Family, Work, and Community, all at UML. In 2002, he co-founded Laboratory for Advanced Biomedical Informatics (LABi) at LSUS and was named its co-Director in 2007. In 2003, he became Adjunct Assistant Professor of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at LSUHSC and was named Director of the Biomedical Informatics Core at the Center for Molecular and Tumor Virology at Louisiana State University Health Science - Shreveport in 2008.

Research Interests
Dr. Trutschl has over three decades of software development and research experience. He has or is still participating in research funded by the Genetics Institute (now Wyeth), Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Pfizer, Spacetec IMC (now Logitech), Department of Defense, National Institutes of Health, Louisiana Biomedical Research Network, NASA, and by the U.S. Air Force, just to name a few. His research activities focus on biomedical informatics, scientific and information visualization, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and microcontrollers.
Dr. Trutschl has published and presented research in the above-mentioned areas and has funded grants in biomedical research and the integration of technology into the university-level curriculum. He actively participates in organization of international conferences and symposia, as well as serves as a reviewer to numerous international conferences and journals with international circulation.
