SHREVEPORT – Robert Alford II, an LSUS arts and media associate professor, and seven current students or LSUS alumni will be participating in the Shreveport Little Theatre’s production of the play “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress.”
Six performances will occur between Jan. 10-13 at Shreveport Little Theatre. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 10-13 with 2 p.m. matinee showings on Jan. 13 and Jan. 14.
The play, written by Alan Ball, is about five bridesmaids who are trying to escape a wedding reception of a bride they soon realize none of them really like.
Recent graduate Aubrey Brummett plays lead character Trisha, while current students Georgette Berne, Bailey Monk and Riley Burns are also cast in the production.
All three current students are sophomores.
Another LSUS student Joey Beeks is operating the light board and serving as a technical and box office assistant.
Brittany Gay, LSUS assistant director of recruitment, is also cast in the production.
Alford II is directing the production, adding to his growing list of SLT plays that include “Sweat,” “Glengarry Glen Ross,” “The Lonesome West,” “Family Planning,” “Crowns,” and “Fences.”
The associate professor teaches introductory theatre, introductory acting and theatre history classes at LSUS.
The production is supported by a grant from the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, with funds from the City of Shreveport. Other support comes in the form of a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council. Funding is also provided by the National Endowment of the Arts.
