Biography

Zhonghui John Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS). He received his Ph.D. and M.Eng. degrees in Computer Science and Information from the University of Mississippi and holds a B.Ed. in Exercise Science from Harbin Sport University.

Dr. Wang’s research spans artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things (IoT), and health data analytics. His recent research focuses particularly on applying machine learning and data science to population health and human-performance data, including the prediction and analysis of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression, physical activity, and physical fitness. His interdisciplinary background in computer science and exercise science supports his growing research program at the intersection of artificial intelligence, health, and human performance.

His research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences, including BMC Public Health, European Journal of Sport Sciences, IEEE/ACIS SERA, IETC, IEEE SoutheastCon, ACM Southeast Conference, and IEEE ICNC. His recent work includes machine-learning approaches to BMI classification, NHANES-based analyses of chronic disease and mental health, physical activity and obesity research, and wireless visual sensor network deployment and scheduling.

Dr. Wang is also actively involved in undergraduate and graduate education and student research mentoring. His teaching areas include computer networks, network security, operating systems, rapid application development, programming, and database systems. He received the Outstanding Faculty Award in Teaching from Louisiana State University Shreveport in 2025.
